I'm officially drooling over the line-up for the Tour of California. Now if Jan Ulrich would just show up I think we'd have just about everyone accounted for. I'm so jealous of all of you who are heading out there in person when I can't even watch the damn thing on TV up here but I'll try to keep my bitterness in check. I'm happy that I'm doing race reports for US Cycling Report so that I'll at least have an excuse to watch it online. It's exciting to me to see so many Canadians on the start list for this race too. I'll be very interested in seeing how my boys do out there amidst the sun and sand.
I read some of chapter two of GEORGIA at my writer's group last night and it got a nice reception. People seem to be eager to hear what happens next and, as a writer, I can't ask for more than that. I need to make a few edits based on the feedback I got last night and then this chapter will be ready to go. I may not keep posting it here as it makes me a little nervous to be putting so much of the book up in cyberspace, but if anyone's interesting in being a reader for me and getting chapters by email as they're ready and sending me feedback I would be hugely appreciative. Just let me know if you're interested, either in the comment section or by email.
I noticed that some people were commenting on the Phelps photos that came out this week. I was actually going to do a whole post on this but just didn't have the time. When I saw the picture on GMA the other day I was reminded of his drunk driving change a while back and the whole thing really pissed me off. Imagine someone comes to your house and says, "You have a skill that no one else on the face of the planet has. You have the opportunity to use that skill, not only to win the world's top awards but also to inspire people and make yourself filthy, stinking rich and all you have to do is NOT BE AN IDIOT." Do you think you could do it? Because I really think I could.
